Framing

For centuries frames have been used to enhance and present works of art. The decorative styles that developed in the Renaissance are often used to frame Old Masters and oil paintings even to this day.

An equally important purpose of frames is to protect artworks and this is a comparatively recent development. Originally, watercolour, prints and other delicate artworks were stored in albums or folios and would have been taken out specially in order to be viewed. It was only when plate glass became widely available that it became possible to keep them on permanent display. Frames allowed the works to be hung and protected at the same time.

At Temple Gallery, we pride ourselves on keeping alive the fine craftsmanship that has gone into making frames for centuries and combine this with a meticulous approach to conservation. We can produce any variety of picture frame to order - for pictures, needle works, football shirts, maps, photography and many other things.

We can offer advice on all aspects of framing and can give a no obligation quotation immediately. Remember we can accommodate all price budgets but our attention to detail always remains the same.
